You know those days where you just want to take a treat to a friend but want it to be something special? Well normal, old, boring chocolate chip cookies are nice but this giant cookie takes it to the next level! Add a little cute bow of bakers twine and you will have your friends feeling all sorts of special! But actually it wasn’t anything different that you did. All that changed is presentation. (Actually the recipe is a tiny bit smaller than normal but you get what I mean!)

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups flour (add an extra 1/4 cup for a thicker cookie)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips, plus more to sprinkle on top, if desired
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil (lightly grease with cooking spray if using foil).
- In a medium bowl, stir together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Add the butter, egg and vanilla and mix until thick and well-combined. Add the flour and chocolate chips and mix until no dry streaks remain.
- Press the cookie dough onto the center of the prepared baking sheet into an evenly thick 9-inch circle. When it bakes, it spreads to about 11-12 inches.
- If desired, top the cookie with additional chocolate chips. Bake for 13-15 minutes until the cookie is set around the edges and slightly crackly on top. (DONT OVER BAKE!!) Let the cookie cool COMPLETELY on the baking pan – this helps the cookie set up so it can be easily lifted off the pan. Once cool, cut around the cookie leaving the parchment paper underneath to help with transferring. Slide a foil covered cardboard circle or a cake circle (found in baking section of most craft stores) underneath the cookie. Tie up with ribbon or cut into slices and serve!

Double Chocolate Chip Cookie
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- Extra chocolate chips, white chocolate chips or M&M’s for sprinkling on top
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and chocolate chips. Microwave on 50% power for 1 minute. Stir and repeat 1-minute intervals until the chocolate and butter are melted and combined after stirring.
- Stir in the granulated and brown sugars. Then whisk in the egg and vanilla.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, salt and soda. Stir the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until no dry streaks remain. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Put in refrigerator for 15-30 minutes.
- Line a large, rimmed baking sheet (11X17-inch) with parchment paper or foil (grease if using foil) and press the cookie into about a 10-inch circle.
- Top the cookie with chocolate chips or M&M’s, pressing them lightly into the dough.
- Bake for 13-14 minutes. Don’t overbake or the cookie will be a bit dry! Let the cookie cool completely on the baking sheet so it won’t break upon transferring.
