Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Butter softened
- 1/2 cup Orange Olive Oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 2 cups Sugar
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 4 Eggs
- Orange Zest from 1 medium orange
- 1 cup Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 cup Cake Flour
- 1 cup Flour all-purpose
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips
Glaze (optional) – I took these to a church social and wanted people to know that these brownies were had orange in them and so I made a glaze so that they would know and not be surprised by the flavor! (If I make these for a small gathering where I can tell everyone that there is orange in the brownie I probably would leave off the glaze and just spring extra chocolate chips on top)
- Zest of 1 orange
- Powder sugar
- Cream or 1/2 and 1/2
- Orange food coloring
Directions
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, olive oil, sugar, and brown sugar for 2 minutes until fluffy.
-
Add eggs one at a time, scraping down the sides of the bowl.
-
Stir in orange zest and mix.
-
Stir in cocoa powder, cake flour, all-purpose flour, and salt. Stir just until combined, scraping down sides of the bowl.
-
Stir in chocolate chips. Fold ingredients together.
-
Pour into a greased 9 x 13 pan and spread batter to edges.
-
Bake for 26 – 34 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Don’t overbake brownies. They will set more as they cool.
-
If using glaze mix the powder sugar and zest together. I normally start with 1 cup of powder sugar and then slowly add in cream until it reaches the right consistency that I want. If too runny, add more sugar. If too clumpy add more cream…
-
Let cool and set up for at least 20 minutes. Pour and spread glaze until there is a light coating.
-
Cut into squares.
