#1 Chocolate Chip Cookie

IMG_3347

So if you have been searching your whole life for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe….search no further! This one wins hands down every. single. time!! I am not sure if its the combination of sugars/butter or the extra egg yolk but it is AMAZING!! To me these cookies will always be the “Owensboro Chocolate Chip Cookies”. I was serving an LDS mission in Kentucky and was lucky enough to serve with a lady and her husband. They were the sweetest couple from Alabama with the most wonderful southern accents! She had us over to lunch one day and made up the most wonderful display of food. Seriously I could have swooned because everything was so beautiful. Well when we were leaving, she gave us these little paper baggies with these cookies in them…..I died…I literally died and went to heaven. So luckily we became fast friends and I was given the best recipe of all time. The only problem is that you can’t just eat one….you have to go back for more!

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (any type)

Directions

Cream the butter and sugars together until fluffy and light brown. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Mix until combined. Add flour, soda and salt. Mix until combined. Add in chocolate chips. Scoop 1-2 TBS balls onto a silicon baking sheet. Bake at 325 for 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven when the edge of the cookie barely lifts off the pan together. Allow to cool on pan for 5 minutes. Remove to a cooling rack to cook the rest of the way. Try not to eat all of them in one sitting….

Makes about 2.5 dozen
