Campfire Pizza

So we went camping and I knew I wanted to use the Dutch oven for dinner. I also knew my kids would be starving from playing hard and so I wanted to do a comfort food that they could gobble down. Dutch oven pizza it was!

Below are a few tips to recreate this delicious master piece!!

Tips:

  • I made the dough fresh at the campsite. I had combined all my dry ingredients at home in a bag, with the yeast separate. Then I just proofed the yeast at the campsite, add the dry ingredients with water and mixed it all up with my hand.

  • If making dough at campsite, make sure to keep yeast cold until using, I kept mine at the bottom of the cooler.
  • Add an egg into the dough just in case…haha
  • Or you could just get store prepared pizza dough and go the very simple route! Freeze dough ahead of time to keep cool longer. (My small town doesn’t have anything like that which is why I made my own)
  • Preheat your Dutch oven in the fire or with briquettes.
  • Use parchment paper to prepare pizza and to place in Dutch oven.
  • Place in Dutch oven and put the lid on (with additional briquettes).
  • Cook until the middle of the cheese is melted!
  • Seriously soooo yummy!!! And a big hit with all of our friends!!
